This next is the major commissioned work which could be described as "Public". The set of work described here was commissioned by Edinburgh District Council in association with the Crafts Division of the Scottish Development Agency in 1992 for the entrances to three public housing high-rise blocks at Westerhailes which were being refurbished. There was considerable input by the local community first choosing the names for the blocks, then selecting the artist from a shortlist of proposals. The individual relief panels are situated at the 5 entrances of each block. The composite panel was intended for an entrance marker to the entire complex. Unfortunately, the building work was never put in place, so this part of the work still lies in store, uninstalled.
