Commissioning a New Sculpture

I have considerable experience in dealing with a wide variety of commissions. The catalogue of work gives an idea of the sort of work I undertake normally, but I am also always willing to consider ideas. It is by taking on the new and unknown that we extend ourselves,

The process of commissioning a piece of sculpture normally follows this sort of pattern:

  1. An initial discussion identifying the outline parameters for the work. This would include subject, size, material(s), timescale, budget, etc.
  2. The artist will then produce outline design proposal(s), costings, and any other specifications required. These matters are discussed with the client, and when all points are agreed
  3. A detailed design and firm price are agreed. At this stage , a part-payment is customary, which helps ensure commitment to the project by both parties.
  4. Work on the piece of sculpture commences.
  5. On a large project, interim inspections and payments may be included.
  6. Final payment is due on delivery/installation of the work.
