The Lamps for the 2000 winners

These lamps were designed using the CAD program Form•Z. The files thus generated were sent to Dundee by Design, who built wax models using their Rapid Prototyping machine. This machine, a Thermojet, builds a wax in a similar way to an inkjet printer, by slicing the 3D virtual object into thin slices, and then printing these slices, one layer laid on top of the last, the printing table being moved down just enough after each layer.
